Dr. G. V. Clark MBGCT Convention President

The Rev. G. V. Clark is the esteemed pastor of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. In March of 1970, Rev. Clark was called to the leadership of Mount Zion Baptist Church, and with him came visions of continued growth. During his 41 year pastorate, God blessed Mt. Zion to procure two lots and the Church family moved into its new edifice at the current location with pew seating for 1,200 members with room for an additional 300 chairs; property holdings have constantly increased which include ten single family units for senior citizens. Rev. Clark is providing visionary leadership to build a Family Life Center to invest in better lives.

Rev. Clark currently serves as the moderator of the St. John Regular Baptist District Association, President of the Missionary Baptist General Convention of Texas and with the Baptist Ministers’ Union of Austin and vicinity. He served as Secretary/Treasurer of Education for the Missionary Baptist General Convention of Texas and is the past President of the State Presidents and Moderators’ Counsel of the NBCA, Inc.

Rev. Clark was licensed and ordained to the Gospel ministry by the College Heights Baptist Church of Austin, Texas, and served successfully as the Pastor of the St. Mary’s Baptist Church in Pflugerville, Texas and the Sweet Home Baptist Church in Round Rock, Texas.

Rev. Clark graduated from the Huston-Tillotson University, Austin, Texas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1958 after a tour of duty in the military. He earned a Master of Divinity degree from the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest. He has matriculated to further his graduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin and the Andover-Newton Theological Seminary in Massachusetts. He has also been bestowed an Honorary Doctorate from his alma mater, Huston-Tillotson University.

Rev. Clark’s former professional experiences include: Public School Teacher in Round Rock ISD, Chaplain of Terrell State Hospital, Chaplain of Austin State Hospital, Director of Training for Austin State Hospital, Program Specialist for Texas Rehabilitation Commission in the program areas of alcoholism, chemical abuse, and mental health and mental retardation, Coordinator of Equal Opportunity for the Texas Rehabilitation Commission, Director of Office of Civil Rights for Texas Rehabilitation Commission and past consultant to EEOC.

Rev. Clark has served both locally and nationally in a number of organizations such as: NAACP, Texas Public Employees Association, Boy Scouts of America, Big Brothers and Sisters and Austin Council on Alcoholism.

Rev. Clark, a native of Webberville, Texas, is the son of the late Reverend Amos Clark and the late Helen Rutledge Clark. He was married to the late Bobbie Jean Higgins Clark for over 40 years. He is the proud father of Vicki Merriwether & Vincent Clark and the doting grandfather of Tony and Sydney Merriwether and Mary Clark.

Sis. Dorothy Mays Clark Coalition Leader

DOROTHY MAYS CLARK is a native of Austin, TX and gives all praise and thanks to God for His many blessings! She is very thankful for her parents, Pastor A. W. Anthony and Sis. Fannie P. Mays, for their love, support, and encouragement knowing that they are the main reasons she is who she is today.

Dorothy accepted Christ at the age of 6 years old at the True Vine Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas, where her father was the Pastor. She immediately became active in the church by singing in the Crusader Choir before eventually becoming the piano player for the young choir. She also represented her church in various Bible Activities where she either won or placed in Bible Story Telling and Bible Sword Drill activities on both the local and state level. When her father became the Pastor of Mt. Sinai in Austin, Texas, she continued her work in the church by participating in the Youth and Young Adult Choir, Junior Ushers, and Founding Member of the Nationally Known and Award-Winning Drill Team. As she continued to grow and mature, she balanced extracurricular activities in school with working in the church. And what she wasn’t ready for before, God is restoring with various opportunities to speak and teach locally and statewide. She has been blessed to serve as the Administrative Assistant to Dean Mays in the Congress of Christian Education of the National Baptist Convention of America International, Inc. She is honored to sing on the National Praise Team. She has been the 3rd Assistant Leader of the Austin Area Coalition Women’s Ministry of the Missionary Baptist General Convention of Texas since 2013 and she thanks God for trusting her with elevating her to become the Leader in January 2018.


Dorothy holds a B.A. in Psychology from Fisk University; Associates Degree in Career Acting from KD Studios- Actors' Conservatory of the Southwest; as well as additional studies in the Masters program in Counseling at St. Edward’s University; and is now enrolled in courses to become certified in Wedding and Event Planning. Dorothy is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She thanks God for the opportunities to appear in several local, regional and national commercials, including Baptist Health Care Systems, Time Warner Cable and WalMart. But, her favorite role, to date, is being Mother to Zuri Mahogany Mays Clark.

Sis. Ramona McFarlin 1st Coalition Assistant Leader

First and foremost, Ramona loves the Lord and is called according to His purpose. This empowers her to have a heart for people and embrace her calling for ministry. Focusing mostly (but not strictly) in encouraging young people and women to fall in love and continually foster a relationship with Jesus Christ.  


Born Ramona Karol Hendricks in Austin Texas to Deacon James & Sister Robbie Hendricks, she was raised to serve God and His people. She can’t say enough that she loves the Lord and live daily to, "Bless His Holy name.  Psalm 103:1" (favorite scripture). She believes that everyone ought to know who Jesus is and doesn’t mind telling them.  


She dutifully & happily serves in her home, which she has shared for almost 25 years with husband Peter, her beautiful and beloved children Raina (21), Peter Jr. (14), and Regan (9). They keep her energized and motivated with their constant love for her and plenty busy with all their activities.  She serves faithfully in her local church, Winn's Memorial Baptist Church, Elgin where Revered D. W. Townsend is her pastor.  She currently serves as the Sunday School & Baptist Training Union(BTU) director, assistant church clerk & administrative assistant, assistant director of the Women's Ministry, youth worker, and choir vice president. She serves joyfully in her district association, St. John Regular Baptist District Association where Reverend Dr. G. V. Clark is her moderator. She served as president of the Junior Women's Auxiliary for nine years and remains an advisor. She also serves faithfully in the Missionary Baptist General Convention of Texas currently as a Core leader of the Women's Ministry leadership team and advisor for the Junior Women’s Auxiliary (of which she also served as president for four years). She serves humbly and passionately in her community, career, and everywhere she go. Always remembering to 'Bless The Lord!'  


She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Letourneau University, Longview and seeks to return soon to secondary education.  She is currently employed with Tex-Con Oil Company as an accounts payable associate (numbers (accounting) is her first love). Her biggest goal in life is to make sure her children come to know and love Jesus Christ as much as she does.  And to live their lives so that someone else might get to know Him as well.

Sis. Elsie Williams 2nd Coalition Assistant Leader

“To God Be the Glory"


One of her favorite scriptures is "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" Philippians 4:13.


Born and raised in Elgin, Texas, Elsie is continuously thanking God for her mother, Juanita Williams, and her lovely family and friends. In 2015 she retired from the Texas Department of Public Safety after 26 1/2 years. Elsie is a member of the Austin Area Women's Ministry Coalition, where she previously served as Area and Local Administrator, and now serves as 2nd Co-Leader, and is on enrollment team for the Missionary Baptist General Convention of Texas Women's Ministry.


She is a faithful servant of the Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Elgin, Texas, where, Rev. Byron Green is Pastor. Elsie serves as the Church Secretary, Finance Department, Assistant Announcing Clerk, Youth Director, Sunday School Teacher and We Care Ministry Advisor. Elsie loves singing in the choir and working with the Women Ministry.

She enjoys working with the youth, singing and visiting at the nursing home, visiting the elderly, sick and shut-in, reaching out to those that do not know Christ and reading.  She loves sharing information to churches and the community via email and text; truly a Ministry God has blessed her with.  With the help of her family she has also grown to love organizing their family reunions and family gatherings every year.


At the St. John Regular Baptist District Association, Dr. G.V. Clark, Moderator, she serves as the Recording Secretary, Birdie Lee Haynes Bradshaw (B. L. H. Bradshaw) Mission II Assistant Secretary, and Assistant Youth Director. In 2017 Elsie served on the 150th Session Souvenir Journal Committee.


In the Elgin Sub District, Rev. D.W. Townsend, President, Elsie serves as the Corresponding Secretary, Youth Coordinator, and Mission II Secretary. She loves to help with Vacation Bible School and sing in the Elgin Sub District Choir. She is also active within in the Community of Elgin where she loves to assist with organizing the Elgin Community cook out; they reach out in the community to everyone to fellowship and share God's word. She also serves different roles such as Elgin Juneteenth Committee Secretary, Committee chair for School Supply drive, Gospel Musical, and assists with the Breakfast of Champion. Last but certainly not least Elsie is the Elgin Branch #6174 N.A.A.C.P Assistant Secretary, Black History program chairperson, and a member of the Elgin and Bastrop County Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. MLK Committee.

Sis. Madelyn Patterson 3rd Coalition Assistant Leader

Madelyn Patterson  is the Founder of the Aspire Higher organization which focuses on youth personal development, self esteem and personal accountability. She has served in the Austin and surrounding communities working with the development of young ladies through workshops and mentoring programs. She works with the St Johns Association, as a Youth Musician,  B.L.H. Bradshaw Mission II, Austin City-Wide Mission II, the Austin Chapter of the Gospel Music Workshop of America, and serves as the Assistant Director for the Voices of Praise Youth Choir with the Texas Mass Choir.


She is an advocate for the youth and has a love for God that is demonstrated in her daily walk. She brings an energy and enthusiasm to every workshop and has a compassionate heart for these  young ladies who she hopes to help them achieve and reach their goals. Her motto is “nothing can dim the light that shines from within”. She uses this in her activities and workshops to help young ladies realize their full potential and explore what God has in store for them.  She is also an avid speaker who connects with each attendee and participant.


She is a member of the New Lincoln Missionary Baptist Church, where her husband, Pastor Rev. Darron Patterson, serves as Pastor. She leads the Women’s Ministry, Media and Communication Ministry, Foreign Mission Representative for the Missionary Baptist General Convention of Texas, assists with the Youth & Young Adult Ministry and  Music Ministry.

Sis. Carolyn Carter 4th Coalition Assistant Leader

Sister Carolyn Carter is thankful to be a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Bastrop, Texas where her husband, Rev. R.W. Carter has served as the Pastor since 2006. She is the Minister of Music, Adult Sunday School Teacher and Women's Ministry Director.  

Sister Carter also serves in the Elgin Sub-District, St. John District Association, South Central Regional Convention of Texas, Missionary Baptist General Convention of Texas Women's Ministry,  Kenneth Larue Brown Musicians Alliance and is a Musician for Providence Primitive Baptist District Association, National Worship Leader for Ministers United Ministerial Development Wives, and 4th Servant Leader for Austin Area Coalition Women's Ministry.

Sister Carolyn Carter has been married to Rev. R.W. Carter for over 37 years. She is blessed to be the mother of two sons, two daughters, nine grandchildren and a beautiful great granddaughters. You can often hear her say, “God has blessed me to have a blended family and I am grateful to have all of them in my life.  Sis. Carter is striving to be a vessel for God's Glory and His Kingdom Work.
